Plen an Gwari Project Final Event
St Just Plain-an-Gwarry, Thurs April 30th 2015
Staff and pupils from Perranporth, Goonhavern, Kea, Cubert, St Erme, Penryn, St Just, Cape Cornwall, St Buryan, Marazion, Alverton, and Constantine schools all enjoyed a cracking day out in the sunshine at ‘the oldest working theatre in Britain’ to celebrate the end of our HLF-funded project.
Banners of ‘ ost’ sites were paraded, medieval songs were sung, excerpts from the original texts were performed; the World was created, the Ark was built, the demons claimed a sinner’s soul, a fiery dragon was tamed and the Cornish army was victorious!
Pupils across Cornwall were introduced to the under-celebrated treasure-trove of goodies from our Plen an Gwari heritage and have gone back to their schools fired-up to find out more about their local ‘lost’ sites.
