Any Resemblance

‘Gwynn ow bys!’ Everything’s rosy!

“Who says you can’t do business out on the edge?”

A cross-channel exploration of Cornish and Breton business leadership.

Any Resemblance was a film project that paired Cornish businesses with counterpart businesses in Brittany, to compare and contrast themes including sustainability, social responsibility, innovation, growth and ingenuity.

Supported by European Interreg funding, Golden Tree Productions worked in collaboration with Arts Cornwall Trust (Krowji), Le Groupe Ouest (the leading digital media development agency in Finistère) and the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce to produce a series of twenty cross-channel films. Each of the short films juxtaposed the experiences of local Cornish businesses with Breton equivalents: Baker Tom’s was paired with Pain Canévet, Finisterre with Guy Cotton and Camel Valley with Distillerie des Menhirs.

As well as several high-profile screening events (with Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and Conseil du Finistère) the films were also built into an interactive installation piece. This labyrinth of gauze screens, projected images and sound sculpture was mounted at Le Groupe Ouest, Kerlouan, attracted several thousand attendees and was very well received.

Shortlisted for the Celtic Media Festival ‘Factual Series’ Award, the project shows that economic vitality, inventiveness and entrepreneurship are not the preserve of big cities and that ‘peripheral’ regions like Cornwall and Brittany are great places to do business.
