Double Celtic Media Festival Nominations

Our film ‘The Heart of Kerdroya’ has been nominated for a Torc Award in the Arts category of the Celtic Media Festival and ‘Goolan’ has been nominated in the Children’s Programme category and for Spirit of the Festival.

The Torc Awards for Excellence are presented annually at the Celtic Media Festival during the daily Award ceremonies. These awards celebrate the breadth of talent in the film, tv, radio and digital media industries from the Celtic nations and regions.

They are presented to programmes from the Celtic Nations and Regions in all Celtic minority languages as well as English, French, Spanish and Galician. There are now 26 Torc Awards for Excellence including the coveted Gold Torc Award for Excellence which is presented to a film or television programme wholly or substantially in a Celtic language that embodies the spirit and ethos of the Festival.

For over 40 years, the Celtic Media Festival has been bringing together media professionalsfrom the Celtic nations and regions with an ambition to promote the languages, cultures and talent of those nations and regions.

 

We’re feeling very proud to receive these nominations alongside some incredible talent from the Celtic nations, including all those representing Kernow – Kernow King Seamas Carey o-region Awen Productions CIC Falmouth University Mark Jenkin, Bear Behind You, and others.

‘The Heart of Kerdroya’ tells the story of the creation of the labyrinth’s central artwork by Thrussells – captured beautifully by Ebb & Flow Media.
With Engine House VFX we brought ‘Goolan’, our much-loved Cornish language tale about a hungry seagull, to life – commissioned by Cornwall Council through Screen Cornwall.
The 44th Celtic Media Festival will take place in Dungloe from the 6th-8th of June 2023. Wish us luck!
